The Dreaded D-word

The word diet down right sucks big cojones.

There's Paleo diet, Whole9 diet, Grapefruit diet, Atkins diet, Raw Food Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet and the list just keeps on going. And in the end, they all tell you what you can't have: no carbs, no bread, no pasta, no sugar, no sodas, no caffeine, no coffee and so many more. I hate being limited on what I can eat.

So I'm giving up on diets.

Living life and eating food is all about your mindset and making lifestyle changes.

So I'm starting small with my choices. Instead of white bread, I'm switching to whole wheat. Instead of pasta, I'm switching to whole wheat pasta. Instead of sodas, I'm switching to juice and uping my water intake. I've also started drinking Advocare Spark energy drink. Instead of potato chips, I'm switching to pita chips. I'm eating more fruits and veggies and less processed foods. And each day I'm making better choices than the day before.

Making small changes like this will lead to success and a healthier me, and I'm feeling more satisfied by not depriving myself of certain foods. I'm changing my mindset on food and dieting, and eating is actually fun again and not something I dread.

What are some of your tips to eating healthy??

  1. You go girl! When I lost my weight last year, I didn't change my diet! Well, I changed it, but I didn't "diet" I worked out and watched what I ate. Tracked calories for a while, and then just really watched my portion sizes! When I did that, and stopped worrying so much about every little thing I ate, thats when the weight started coming off!

Can't wait for this baby to be here so I can join you in your quest to better health! It will be a party!

  2. I like your take on dieting! I've never really understood dieting, because a diet never seems like something anyone sticks with forever. I think you're taking the right steps to eating healthier and making better decisions. I gave up soda in high school... I mean, I do enjoy one a month or so, but weeding out the bad stuff is a good place to begin your changes. :)

I know that we don't keep a whole lot of unhealthy things around our apartment... or we will eat them. We only eat whole grain (or wheat) breads, no soda, lots of water. I don't have many tips other than, eat smarter... and watch portions. Have healthy snacks on hand for when you do get hungry. Don't reach for the chips, but eat pretzels and hummus or guacamole or something. You can do it!!

  3. egh I hate diets !! I used to diet like a mad person when I was a teenager, my weight up and down like a yoyo and I ended up covered in stretch marks all over my body. I have a much healthier relationship with food now, usually taking the healthier option, and I don't view it in terms of losing weight any more because that's no longer an issue, but I see it in terms of what's better for my health and what will help me live longer to be there for my family as they grow. Plus exercise always helps (egh I neeeed to start exercising again! I can't run for more than a minute without getting a stitch!)

  4. I really agree with you on the whole dieting thing! I'm watching my portion sizes, and I try to exercise regularly. That helps a lot. I need to have more vegetables on hand in my house instead of chips. ha

  5. My biggest change has been the every day stuff - eating less processed and eating whole foods, lots of veggies in salads, but more than anything.. making everything from scratch so I KNOW what is actually in my food. I started making my own ranch - and oh my word - amazing.
