Thoughts Lately

After Thursday's post, I told you I'd talk more about the funeral and B's grandpa's death. Guess I needed an extra day to process it all. But here I am, on a Saturday,  talking about serious stuff. Totally not what you thought you'd be reading today, is it?

There's something about the soul and life that go hand-in-hand. After you die and your soul has left this earth, the pieces that are left behind are lifeless, of course, but it's more than that. The pieces left behind look nothing like they did before. There is no color or pigment in the skin. The skin sags against the bones, and you have to keep reminding yourself that they're no longer there. That's not them.

Even with all the make-up an undertaker put on a body to make it presentable it'll never look like it did before. Before death.

And then I think about Brandon's grandma. We call her Gigi. She is the epitome of strength. I'm tearing up just thinking about how she's held herself together these past few days.

I would be completely broken. And I'd probably be holed up in some closet for days, maybe weeks trying to process it all. I sure wouldn't be showing my face blotchy from stress, uncontrollable crying and blood-shot eyes.

Thirty-six years married to your best friend. Married to someone who makes you happy. Someone who loves you just as you are. Someone who makes you a better person, and whom you share more than half your life with.

Someone who knows all your secrets. Weaknesses. What makes you tick and what ticks you off.  They know how to put a smile on your face and cheer you up when you're down. Then to lose your best friend. Whether out of the blue or you know it's coming.

Death really is such an awful subject to talk about, but I have learned, we cannot have life without death. Death is mentioned more times in the Bible than Life. Our Heavenly Father wants us to understand death and Hell, so that we can truly know Him and have eternal life.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
