White wine sangria recipe (Perfect for Summer)

Photobucket

This past weekend we had a huge family and friends get-together for my father-in-law's and Brandon's younger sister's birthdays. We had crawfish etouffee, rice, home cooked beans, smoked brisket, and fried catfish. To say we had a lot of food is an understatement.

After cleaning up yesterday we had a lot of beer and wine left over. Who wants to party?! A week ago I went to Carrabba's Italian restaurant and had a glass of their white wine sangria, and ever since I've wanted to make my own. Well yesterday I got my chance. I saved a bottle of white wine and found a few recipes online. This may not be an official restaurant style recipe, but it sure is good!

Ingredients:
1 bottle of white wine (Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, or Sauvignon blanc)
2/3 c. of sugar
1 c. orange juice
1 lemon sliced
2 oz. crown royal whiskey (optional)
1/2 liter of ginger ale
4 sliced strawberries
1/3 c. fresh blueberries
1/2 sliced apple
1/3 white grapes

Pour wine into the pitcher, add in brandy or whiskey (optional). Toss in fruit and add sugar. Chill in refrigerator overnight. Add ginger ale just before serving.

If you want to serve immediately, use chilled white wine and serve with lots and lots of ice.

Your tastes buds won't know what hit them!

There are seriously a ton of sangria recipes out there, but this was the first time I ventured out to make anything homemade. You'll have to let me know if you try this. :)
