Christmas + Traveling = Yuck!!

As we all know, by now, it is down to the wire, and we have 10 days left until Christmas!! YAY!! Hope all of you have your Christmas shopping done or, at least, half way done. Christmas - the time of year where people go crazy at stores, have mile-long to-do lists, bake tens and thousands of cookies for their kids' school functions, and suffer through holiday parties they just had to attend...Sounds wonderful, right?! :)

Christmas trees at the airport in Cancun, Mexico! So pretty!!

Well, this year Brandon and I have downsized a bit. We will be having a smaller and saner Christmas! First, we decided not to decorate this year due to the craziness of a wedding that occurred at the beginning of the month, then followed by a honeymoon. We simply do not have time. I'm pretty sure our neighbors think we're Scrooges and hate Christmas.

Next, we will be limiting our gifts to our family (sorry loved-ones), but with the expenses of the wedding and honeymoon (that we so desperately wanted to pay for ourselves), we just do not have the funds for elaborate gifts this year to give. I know, I know, bah-hum-bag.

And last, we will not be traveling this year for Christmas, even though our extended families will not be able to come to us. It has just been a whirlwind of a month, and we just do not feel up to lugging around sweet Astro, plus all of our gifts and driving hundreds of miles across the state of Texas to see family. We do love you ALL, and we will see you all very soon!

So, we are throwing tradition out the window and will be staying home for the holidays. :) Do what makes you (and your significant other) happiest, without guilt!! Sure, it can be hard to do what you want over the holidays rather than what your parents, siblings, or in-laws want and expect. But you’ll enjoy your holiday more, and feel less stressed by making your own traditions, do it - guilt-free.

I want to just slip away and go back to our absolutely-perfect-place-to-be. Oh Mexico, you had me at white sandy beaches!!

How you will be spending your holidays?
