Dare to be Different

Dare to be different.
Dare to stand out.
Dare to color outside the lines.

Don't be afraid to be yourself. Conformists never make it to the top anyway. ;P

God knew what He was doing when He made you. You are unique and one of a kind. He made you just the way you are. So, it's time you started embracing that. Dare to accept yourself as being different and stop being insecure about measuring up to others.

Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Now, don't get me wrong. I still get caught up in the competitive comparison attitude with other people. But as soon as I realize that I'm comparing myself, I stop, take a step back and re-evaluate the situation. I remind myself to be thankful for the things I have: a roof over my head (a brand new home to be more precise), a dependable car that I know will keep me safe, a family that loves, and a Heavenly Father who created me and chases after me to be His own.

God  wants to take us, with all of our weaknesses and inabilities, and transform us from the inside out. He wants us to do amazing things on this earth. If we are going to succeed at being ourselves, we can't continue to be afraid of what everyone else may think.

Just some food for thought...
Happy weekend!

PS. This post is for you, Megan! xo

  2. This issue has been on my mind a lot lately... I've had to cut myself off from certain social media and also certain blogs. Last night I told my husband that I've always been a late bloomer when it comes to just about everything. Last of my friends to get a first date, get married, buy a house, have kids.... everything happens for me at a much slower pace. That's okay though.

I'm learning to be happy in our apartment and realize that kids will come when they're supposed to. All good things take time. Those good things also happen when you stop worrying. Always a work in progress.

Like you said, it's good to know when you're comparing yourself and to step back and be thankful. :)
